singer-songwriter with a heart of country gold

From his early life as the son of a PEI fisherman, growing up surrounded by pickers & singers, to his years touring North America in punk & metal bands, Jay Gavin has come full circle and returned to his roots in country, folk & bluegrass. With a string of singles, two EPs and an album under his belt, Jay is well known for his natural authenticity, his often-humorous, twangy, foot-stompin’ songs and his rollicking, good timin’ live shows. Whether backed by a full band or stripped down with just his guitar, Jay's live show is more like a party. You'll laugh and sing and dance and go home feeling that you've made a new friend. Jay's latest EP “Therapy”, August 2022 and was recorded live off the floor with producer Jeff Zipp at Hipposonic in Vancouver BC. Three singles, ‘Harley Someday, ‘North of Tennessee’ and ‘Got Myself a Harley’, were released in lead up to the drop of the EP. This bluegrassy collection of mostly auto-biographical material reminds fans that Jay is all about having a good time. The two official videos,'Got Myslef a Harley' and 'Therapy' drive home the good vibes and give just a hint of how much fun Jay has out on the road.  2022 saw extensive touring throughout Western Canada and extending down through MT, WY and into TN. Whether backed by a full band on a festival stage at Waynestock AB or Moonshin' Music Fest BC or solo in the corner of a barrooms or brewery Jay made a lot of new fans and friends on the road this past year. With that itch still in his boot Jay just returned from the Jan/Feb 2023 13 date Two Folked Up Dudes tour with AB artist Ole Man Kidd through WA and BC.  Next up, back to Nashville to finish a full length LP he started recording with Denny Knight (Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Billy Don Burns) and The Nashville Music Group last fall. The first single from the album will drop in April 2023 right before Jay joins Songwriters United on a two week BC tour. Dates are also filling up for an Atlantic Canada tour in July with The Stompin Tom Center on July 29th a highlight. Jay can't wait to share a song and a beer with his fans across North America this year!
